Good Thursday Morning/Afternoon, (February 9th,2023)
Its Conductor Wolf, and it is time for another post here on "Interesting Post" blog. Last time we talked about Thomas and the Magic Railroad movie review post. On today's post, I want to dive into sharing some thoughts on one of many subcultures that exist. And that is the "furry fandom" subculture. But before diving into the subculture, I want to first point out a few things just so everyone is on the same page.
Few Notes:
- Personal thought on this subculture (by Conductor Wolf) NOT representing the furry fandom
- Thoughts are backed by sources that are linked at the bottom of the post
- Mostly focusing on the positive side of the fandom than the negative side
With that out of the way, let's get into the main portion of the post that you came to read here on the blog. So without further a due, I'll share my thoughts on the fandom.
First up: What is a furry?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The simply way of looking at the furry fandom is that it is a subculture that is interested in anthropomorphic animal characters. Examples of anthropomorphic attributes include exhibiting human intelligence and facial expressions, speaking, walking on two legs, and wearing clothes. Furry fandom is also used to refer to the community of artists, writers, role players and general fans of the furry art forms who gather on the net and at conventions. The way I see the fandom, is that to pretty much most to all furries considered it as a another type of hobby that they love and want to express to world.
What I like seeing from the furry fandom, is the positivity that is seen from the fandom. At every furry convention, they raise money for charities in their community/area around the furry convention. According to Wikifur (Furry Wikipedia), defines the Furry fandom as "Furry fandom, also known as furrydom, furridom, fur fandom or furdom, refers to the fandom for the furry genre of literature, art and entertainment. Furry fandom is also used to refer to the community of artists, writers, role players and general fans of the furry art forms who gather on the net and at conventions." meaning that its a hobby that every furry enjoys being part of the fandom whether its wearing a fursuits, furry literature or furry art among other furry fandom related activities.
Based on research from many sites that I've looked at about the Furry fandom and concluded that the furry fandom is place where people can be themselves and being in a community that is shared by other people who have an interested in anthropomorphic animals and want to express it through artwork, fursuiting, literature, going to furry convention/outing and other furry related activity. But the main goal I think is the furry fandom is to share the positivity that the furry fandom creates and want to express with the world. And like I said in my "Hobbies that we love" post, Everyone has their own lists of hobbies or group of them that they all love or like to do on their own time. meaning that if somebody is furry, let be a furry because of their interest in anthropomorphic animals through many forms of entertainment that has anthropomorphic animals.
Even though there are people that are negative, I say ignore them and let something that you enjoy doing or being apart grow and express in the world. Cause there is a lot more positive than negative in the world.
In conclusion, the furry fandom is truly a place where people can let the animal inside them come out for a weekend or a day and get together with others who shared the common interest to have fun while raising money or sharing positively in their community. Heck, even after doing research I have a couple of creative story fursona named (Blue Wolf & Red Emergency) that comes out when I do creative writing on a story and he appears in the story and would truly support the community.
Fursona: fursona (pl. fursonas, rarely furson/fursonae[citation needed]) is a furspeech portmanteau derived from the terms furry and persona, that refers to a (normally furry) character, persona, alter ego, avatar, or identity assumed by a person or player normally associated with the furry fandom.
